OFFICE OF INVESTIGATIONS & QUESTIONABLE AFFAIRS

CASE GL-049: THE MATTER OF THE MISSING WEAPON

    Server: Nunevoth (3-box server)

OFFICIAL NOTICE OF PERSON SOUGHT FOR QUESTIONING

By order of Chief Investigator Thaddeus Grimledger, the Office of Investigations & Questionable Affairs hereby announces an inquiry into the suspicious disappearance of a weapon entrusted to an adventurer identified as Geaeren.

According to a complaint received by this office, a generous adventurer temporarily loaned his weapon to Geaeren, who was serving as the group’s main tank and reportedly possessed equipment of questionable effectiveness.

The weapon was intended to improve the party’s chances of survival.

Its subsequent failure to return to its rightful owner has raised several concerns.

Chief among them is the apparent confusion between the words borrow and keep.

Geaeren is therefore sought for questioning regarding allegations of:

    • Failure to Return Borrowed Property
    • Suspected Ninja Looting
    • Unauthorized Acquisition of Another Adventurer’s Generosity
    • Suspicious Mustache Activity
    • Hoarding of Shiny Objects
    • Conduct Unbecoming of a Borrower
    • General Nuisance to Decent Adventurers

The accompanying likeness has been prepared in the traditional manner by an artist whose qualifications remain under investigation.

Anyone possessing information relevant to this matter is encouraged to contact The Wayfarer’s Gazette.

Geaeren is invited to provide his account of the incident and arrange the return of the disputed property.

    INVESTIGATOR’S NOTE:

“I have examined the complaint and find the circumstances troubling.

A borrowed weapon is not a gift. A generous adventurer is not a traveling equipment merchant. And a suspiciously well-equipped tank is not necessarily an innocent one.

Until the matter is resolved, I recommend that all adventurers exercise caution when lending valuable possessions.

Particularly to individuals who appear to have misplaced both their shirts and their understanding of personal property.”

    Case GL-050
    Chief Investigator: Thaddeus Grimledger
    Server: Nunevoth (3-Box)
Principal Subject: TKO, Deep Elf Monk
    Associated Characters: Ares and Pro
    Status: Under Investigation
Allegations: Disputed Camp Claim, Suspected Play Nice Policy Violations, Alleged Camp Stealing, and Extraordinary Asshattery

    THE INCIDENT

The Office of Investigations & Questionable Affairs has received a complaint concerning a most peculiar confrontation at the Overlord General’s camp.

According to the complainant, an adventuring party fought its way through hostile territory, cleared the Overlord General’s room and its surrounding areas, and established a functioning camp.

The party reportedly maintained control of the area for at least thirty-five minutes, with the total time approaching an hour.

All appeared to be proceeding in the customary fashion. Enemies were dispatched, the camp was maintained, and the adventurers presumably enjoyed the rare satisfaction of having accomplished something without immediately dying.

    Then three individuals appeared.

TKO, a Deep Elf Monk, accompanied by characters identified as Ares and Pro, reportedly logged into the very room in which the Overlord General spawns.

Upon arriving, TKO allegedly informed the occupying party that the camp already belonged to him.

He further claimed to have held the location for several hours before logging out.

    His explanation for this absence?

He had taken his dog for a walk.

Chief Investigator Grimledger immediately requested additional parchment.

    THE CANINE DEFENSE

The Office has encountered many explanations for questionable adventuring conduct.

    Some have been plausible.

Others have involved lag, unfortunate accidents, misunderstood instructions, or an alleged inability to distinguish one’s own belongings from those of another.

However, the assertion that a camp remains reserved while its claimant departs to exercise a household animal presents an entirely new administrative challenge.

Grimledger reviewed the Play Nice Policy update issued by GM Trent on October 22, 2026, with particular attention to the provisions governing camp priority.

The published policy addresses circumstances in which players lose priority over a camp, including leaving the immediate area except while continuing to interact with the camp.

The Office found no general exemption for recreational canine activities.

    Grimledger issued the following observation:

“I have examined the relevant regulations and discovered no provision concerning dogs, leashes, walking routes, or the preservation of camping rights through the exercise of domestic animals.

    I checked twice.

    The dog is not mentioned.

Until further evidence is presented, I must regard the Canine Defense as an argument of considerable creativity and questionable regulatory merit.”

For the record, the dog has not been accused of misconduct.

Its whereabouts are not considered relevant to the investigation, although Grimledger insists that its walking schedule be entered into the case file.

    THE DISPUTED ENGAGEMENTS

The complainant further alleges that, after asserting his claim, TKO and his two associated characters participated in taking the Overlord General on at least two subsequent occasions while the original party remained at the camp.

The complainant reports that petitions were submitted to the game’s GM team and that the party was awaiting a response during the disputed encounters.

Whether those engagements constituted camp stealing, kill stealing, or another violation of the published Play Nice Policy is a matter for the game’s authorized staff to determine.

The Gazette has not received a confirmed GM ruling on this incident.

Grimledger nevertheless considers the reported sequence sufficiently unusual to warrant inclusion in his files.

“One party clears the camp. Another appears and announces prior ownership based upon an earlier occupation interrupted by a dog walk.

Thereafter, the parties disagree about the ownership of the General, who, regrettably, has not submitted a statement.

This office shall continue its inquiries.”

    THREE SUSPECTS, ONE ADVENTURER

A further complication emerged when investigators learned that TKO, Ares, and Pro were reportedly controlled by the same player on the Nunevoth three-box server.

This revelation caused considerable consternation within the Office.

Grimledger had already prepared three separate interrogation schedules.

“The fact that three characters are controlled by one individual does not reduce the quantity of paperwork,” the Chief Investigator declared.

“If anything, it increases it. I now require three character statements, one player statement, and an explanation as to why my clerks have been instructed to address three suspects who may all answer at once.”

Ares and Pro remain listed as associated characters in the complaint. Their individual appearances have not been established for the purposes of the Gazette’s wanted illustration.

    THE INVESTIGATOR’S FINDINGS

After reviewing the complainant’s account, the Office records the following preliminary observations:

    1. The reporting party states that it cleared and maintained the Overlord General’s camp before TKO and the associated characters appeared.
    2. TKO reportedly asserted a prior claim despite having logged out to walk his dog.
    3. The complainant alleges that TKO, Ares, and Pro participated in at least two subsequent disputed kills of the Overlord General.
    4. The complainant reports having submitted petitions to the game’s GM team.
    5. No official ruling or disciplinary finding has been established in the evidence presently available to the Gazette.

These findings record the allegations and reported sequence of events. They do not constitute a determination of guilt.

NOTICE TO WITNESSES AND THE ACCUSED

The Office of Investigations & Questionable Affairs invites anyone with firsthand knowledge of the incident, including TKO and the player controlling Ares and Pro, to provide an account for the record.

    Contradictory testimony is welcome.

    Supporting evidence is encouraged.

Unsubstantiated excuses will be carefully filed, indexed, and subjected to Grimledger’s customary expression of profound disappointment.

Those wishing to examine the applicable rules may consult GM Trent’s Play Nice Policy Update, October 22, 2026.

The Gazette’s investigation is an independent, satirical community report. It is not an official game investigation, and its wanted notices do not authorize harassment, retaliation, or enforcement action against any player.

FINAL REMARKS FROM CHIEF INVESTIGATOR GRIMLEDGER

“I have investigated missing weapons, questionable evacuations, and adventurers who possess a remarkable talent for placing their companions in mortal danger.

Yet I confess this matter has introduced a question for which my training has not prepared me.

At precisely what distance from one’s keyboard does a dog walk become an abandonment of one’s camp?

The regulations appear considerably clearer than the defendant’s explanation.

Nevertheless, the official determination rests with those authorized to make it.

    I shall await further testimony.

And should anyone locate the dog, kindly refrain from arresting it. The animal appears to be the only participant whose conduct has not been questioned.”

The facts have been recorded. The excuses have been noted. The truth, regrettably, remains under investigation.

Case GL-051: The Trem Camp Dispute

    Chief Investigator: Thaddeus Grimledger
    Server: Trem
    Subject: Jerbear, Dwarf Bard
Complainant: Tambzie, Goblin Shadowknight (Twitch: TambsTV)
Reported Offenses: Camp Disruption, Attempted Camp Stealing, Back Talking, General Tomfoolery and Asshattery
    Case Status: Under Investigation

    AN UNWELCOME PERFORMANCE

The Office of Investigations & Questionable Affairs has received yet another complaint concerning an adventurer who apparently believed that arriving at an occupied camp constituted sufficient grounds to claim it.

The incident, reported by Tambzie, a Goblin Shadowknight adventuring upon the Trem server, concerns a Dwarf Bard known as Jerbear.

According to the complaint, Jerbear entered an area being camped by Tambzie and attempted to interfere with the established arrangement.

What followed has been described as camp disruption, attempted camp stealing, back talking, and behavior of such questionable judgment that the Office has reluctantly opened a separate file for general asshattery.

Chief Investigator Grimledger was informed that the individual in question was a Bard.

He immediately requested a headache remedy.

    The Forty-Mob Defense

When confronted about pulling mobs from an area the group had been using for approximately five hours, Jerbear reportedly offered an explanation.

There were, he suggested, plenty of mobs available.

    Approximately forty, by his estimation.

He further remarked that it would hardly be a catastrophe if the group’s puller had to travel a little farther to find additional enemies.

The exchange reportedly included the memorable address, “Pal!”

Chief Investigator Grimledger examined this argument with considerable attention.

“Forty mobs,” he repeated, carefully writing the number in his ledger.

“An impressive quantity. I presume the accused conducted a proper census before arriving at this figure.”

The Chief Investigator then requested a map showing the locations of all forty alleged mobs, their respective availability, and the distance Tambzie’s puller would be required to travel to accommodate Jerbear’s activities.

    No such map was provided.

“I find it remarkable,” Grimledger continued, “that an adventurer can identify forty available enemies yet still consider it necessary to select those already being pulled by another group.

One might reasonably suggest that the accused follow his own advice and venture farther afield.”

The Office has provisionally classified this explanation as The Forty-Mob Defense.

It is not presently regarded as a recognized legal doctrine.

    A QUESTION OF MUSICAL ETIQUETTE

The Office wishes to clarify that being a Bard is not, in itself, suspicious.

Although the Chief Investigator has long maintained that anyone who insists upon providing musical accompaniment during dangerous expeditions deserves careful observation, no regulation currently prohibits the practice.

Nevertheless, the allegations against Jerbear present an interesting problem.

A Bard is ordinarily expected to contribute to the success of an adventuring party.

Attempting to interfere with another party’s camp, if substantiated, would appear to be a rather less welcome contribution.

“I have reviewed the complaint,” Grimledger stated.

“The accused is described as a musician. Yet the only performance brought to my attention appears to have been an argument.

If this is considered entertainment, I fear the standards of the performing arts have deteriorated considerably.”

    THE MATTER OF BACK TALKING

Of particular concern to the Chief Investigator is the accusation of back talking.

Grimledger has spent decades developing a professional manner intended to discourage unnecessary conversation.

He considers the continued existence of unnecessary conversation a personal insult.

“There are occasions when an adventurer must speak,” he explained.

“To warn companions of danger. To request assistance. To provide useful information.

And then there are occasions when an adventurer speaks merely because silence would deprive the world of his opinions.

I suspect this case may involve the latter.”

The Office acknowledges that disagreeing with another player is not, by itself, a violation of the game’s rules.

Back talking has therefore been entered into the Gazette’s records as a charge of questionable manners rather than an established disciplinary offense.

Grimledger has nonetheless ordered it underlined twice.

THE FINAL ACT: AN ADMINISTRATIVE SILENCING

The confrontation reportedly reached its conclusion when Tambzie placed Jerbear on his ignore list.

    No further argument was required.

The Bard’s remarks simply ceased to reach their intended audience.

Upon learning of this development, Grimledger expressed something approaching professional admiration.

    “Extraordinary,” he observed.

“An entire dispute concluded through the administrative removal of one individual’s ability to be heard.

I have spent years attempting to achieve similar results during departmental meetings.”

He has since requested information concerning whether the ignore function can be applied to unsolicited reports, excessive explanations, and Nynkies Nimblefingers when the Editor-in-Chief begins discussing newspaper circulation figures.

    The request remains pending.

    THE DRUMMING QUESTION

The wanted illustration depicts Jerbear carrying a drum, an instrument that has prompted considerable discussion within the Office.

Grimledger wishes to establish whether the drum was used during the reported incident.

No such evidence has yet been submitted.

Nevertheless, the Chief Investigator has prepared a provisional statement.

“Should the accused have attempted to announce ownership of the camp by beating a drum, I would consider the method both unnecessarily theatrical and wholly insufficient as documentation.

A properly established claim does not become more legitimate merely because it is accompanied by percussion.”

The Office emphasizes that the drum is an artistic detail of the wanted illustration, not independently verified evidence from the encounter.

    PRELIMINARY FINDINGS

Having reviewed the eyewitness account, the Office records the following:

    1. Tambzie, a Goblin Shadowknight on the Trem server, was reportedly occupying a camp when the dispute occurred.
    2. Jerbear, identified as a Dwarf Bard, allegedly attempted to interfere with or claim the camp.
    3. The encounter reportedly involved an argument and conduct described by the complainant as back talking.
    4. The complaint includes allegations of camp disruption and attempted camp stealing.
    5. No official Game Master ruling or disciplinary finding has been provided to the Gazette.

These observations record the complaint and do not constitute proof that Jerbear violated the Play Nice Policy.

    NOTICE TO JERBEAR

The Office of Investigations & Questionable Affairs invites Jerbear to submit his account of the incident.

He may explain the circumstances of the camp dispute, address the allegations, and clarify whether any musical instruments were involved.

    A written statement is preferred.

Musical submissions will be considered only if accompanied by a transcription, three copies of the lyrics, and a signed declaration that no further camp disputes will be settled through percussion.

The Office also welcomes additional firsthand accounts or relevant evidence.

FINAL REMARKS FROM CHIEF INVESTIGATOR GRIMLEDGER

“I have now examined complaints involving missing weapons, questionable evacuations, disputed camps, and adventurers whose explanations require more patience than their actions deserve.

Today I am presented with a Dwarf Bard accused of attempting to appropriate another adventurer’s camp.

I am further informed that he engaged in back talking.

The evidence remains incomplete, and I shall not pronounce judgment where the facts have not been established.

However, I offer one piece of professional advice to all wandering musicians.

If you discover that someone else has already occupied the stage, do not assume that playing louder makes it yours.

And kindly stop beating that blasted drum.”

The facts have been recorded. The excuses have been noted. The truth, regrettably, remains under investigation.
